At one time, there were handicapped accessible swings in the park. Why are they no longer there? There still are children in Gibson City who would enjoy them.

I discussed your question with City of Gibson Superintendent Stauffer earlier today. I found that there were safety concerns for our younger children due to the choking hazards posed by the straps and buckles and that the swings should only be used with adult supervision. Many non-handicapped children were playing on the swings without supervision and the decision was made to remove them due to the potential danger. Our insurance carrier was also very concerned with the safety issues.
Unfortunately, we currently do not have a solution. Any ideas would be welcome.
